Release Ceremony and Coin Exchange of the Michigan Innovation Dollar

Since 2018 the United States Mint has been honoring the individual states with a commemorative dollar highlighting innovations that are attributed to each state. This program is going, like the Statehood Quarters, in the order of admission to the union. As the 26th state, Michigan has been slated as the second Innovation Dollar to be released this year. The dollar celebrating Michigan’s innovation of the Auto Assembly Line will be released by the U.S. Mint on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 at 12:00 noon on the mint website at https://usmint.gov/.

The Michigan State Numismatic Society (MSNS) is excited to announce that there will be a Release Ceremony for the 2025 Michigan Innovation Dollar. It will be held on Tuesday, April 8th at the Detroit Historical Museum, 5401 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48202. Admittance will be at the side entrance beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a brief official ceremony beginning around 10:30 a.m. followed by a coin exchange of the new dollar.

Additionally, many dignitaries from the auto industry, several historical related organizations, local and national numismatic organizations, including ANA President Thomas Uram and MSNS president Kathy Freeland.

Following the program, the Innovation Dollar will be available to exchange on a per dollar basis. You may exchange a cash dollar and receive a Michigan Innovation Dollar in its place (cash only).
